One Sri Lankan still in Sanaa

At least one Sri Lankan is still remaining in Sanaa, the devastated capital of Yemen and some 20 others who are refusing to return are scattered all over the country, Nasim, a recent returnee from Yemen told Sunday Observer yesterday.

He said his son is still in Sanaa and there were two others with him by early last week. One of them, Abdul Rassak, a teenager attending religious school in Sanaa had left the Capital where there are constant nighttime bombing and moved to a peaceful area.

"My son is depressed but is adament that he remain in Sanaa," Nasim said, adding that despite the situation he is still employed. Nasim, his wife and 43 others were repatriated in two batches, with the intervention of the Government the previous Wednesday and Friday. They were evacuated to Djibouti from Yemen by the Chinese Navy.

The Foreign Employment Bureau Spokesperson and Deputy General Manager Mangala Randeniya said no one has approached the Bureau since last week, seeking help to come home.

"We have no records of anyone else in Yemen," he added.
