Thera in connection with a Rs. 600 million embezzlement case. The
Thera, one of the advisers on Buddhist Affairs to former President
Mahinda Rajapaksa was yesterday questioned from 8.30 a.m. to 3.00

Ex - UN envoy Kshenuka to be exonerated?
The Foreign Ministry will submit a report to the
Parliament’s High Posts Committee on former Foreign Secretary and
former Ambassador to the UN in Geneva Kshenuka Seneviratne, likely
to exonerate her of charges with regard to ‘Genevagate.’ Seneviratne
was mired in controversy over the alleged awarding of a contract to
renovate her official residence in Geneva, to a company based in
Zurich with alleged links to the Liberation Tigers. She is currently
serving as an Additional Secretary overseeing economic affairs at
the Foreign Ministry.

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is faced with
problems in registering the four-party alliance as a political party
with the Elections Commissioner (EC). The TNA is an alliance of four
Tamil political parties with the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF)
as the main party and the Tamil Eelam Liberation Front (TELO), the
People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) and the
Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) being the
others.
