Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim tons help Bangladesh

Mirpur: Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 79 runs in the first one-day international in Dhaka on Friday to take the lead in the three-match series.

The hosts piled up 329 for six after electing to bat and then bowled out their rivals for 250 in 45.2 overs at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium.

It was only the second win for Bangladesh over Pakistan in 48 games across Test, one-day and Twenty20 formats, and the first since 1999.

The second match will be played at the same venue on Sunday.
