Prof.Sudarshan to continue for now

The new Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Maheshini Kolonne said, the Ministry was in the process of obtaining the agreement of the receiving country to fill vacant posts of Heads of Missions in 33 countries including India.

Kolonne said out of the 33 persons identified, 17 were career diplomats.

Sri Lanka has 63 missions and consulates overseas, of which 40 are currently running without heads following the decision by the Government to recall all non career diplomats after the Presidential election in January. Despite the action Envoy to India Prof.Sudarshan Seneviratne was asked to continue untill his replacement arrived. MF
