Sri Lanka Tourism, Sri Lanka Tea Board and Sri Lankan Airlines which
have teamed up to make Sri Lanka a power brand globally, launched a Sri
Lanka Guinness record initiative on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific
Onboard Travel Partners Congress 2015 (APOT).
APOT has selected Sri Lanka as its venue for the biennial conference.
The Founder of APOT, Keerthi Ranasinghe said at the last conference
in Vietnam a world record was set up and I am happy Sri Lanka is
targeting a similar feat in the tea industry.
Ceylon Tea being endorsed by Sri Lanka Tourism and Sri Lankan
Airlines is in a winning position in driving Brand Sri Lanka globally,
said Chairman, Sri Lanka Tourism, Rohantha Athukorala."We hope to set a
record-breaking feat in the tea industry, by gathering 1,000 people at a
single location to pick the most amount of tea within a specified time,"
he said. Sri Lanka will enter the Guinness Book of Records on the
completion of this event on August 30.
The event 'Tea Plucking Guinness Book of Records attempt' will be
held in the tea garden to the world - Nuwara Eliya.
The initiative is not just a one-off idea but will be taken around
the world and culminate at the WTM in London.
There will be an above line media campaign in focused markets and
below line activity at trade exhibitions, said Athurkorala. |
