HRP to conduct professional courses

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), one of the world's largest organisations associated with human resource management, has teamed up with Association of Human Resource Professionals, Sri Lanka (HRP) to launch SHRM certification programs in Sri Lanka recently.

The two certifications, SHRM - Certified Professional (SHRM - CP) and SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM - SCP), will set new standards for HR professionals, and help them grow in their careers.

In a rapidly changing environment, HR professionals face various challenges in their workplace. To deal with these challenges effectively, they need to constantly upgrade their knowledge. With this in mind, SHRM created a certification that is clearly focused on the competencies and knowledge, all HR professionals need, to lead in today's business community.

President, Association of Human Resource Professionals, Ms. L. Chiranthi Cooray said, "HRP is proud to launch a much respected international human resource qualification in Sri Lanka, the SHRM Global HR Certification. Having identified the vacuum in not having an internationally accredited professional qualification in human resources, HRP leveraged the synergistic partnership with SHRM to bring in global accreditation to further enhance the professional stature and international mobility of HR professionals in Sri Lanka."

"This will help HR professionals set a new benchmark for excellence in HR. Certification started out as testing for knowledge. Today you have to demonstrate that you can apply that knowledge in a manner that yields positive individual performance and better business outcomes or competency."

CEO, SHRM India, Ms. Achal Khanna said, "We are delighted to partner with HRP in launching this certification program in Sri Lanka. Through this we aspire to provide working professionals, a comprehensive understanding of Human Resource Management."

"This flagship course would certainly help HR professionals to become a valuable asset to their organisations. We are also optimistic about further strengthening our relationship with HRP as we work together to develop HR professionals across the country," she said.

Group Chief People Officer, Brandix, Ishan Dantanarayana said, "SHRM certifications espouses the HR fraternity to the latest and the most advanced HR practices and helps HR practitioners gain a globally recognised qualification, thereby meeting an aspiration particularly among the Corporates where HR plays a pivotal role."
