'Colombo - fastest growing city'

Colombo has been ranked as the fastest growing city according to the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index released last week. The peaceful environment which supported high growth in the tourism industry has enabled Sri Lanka to record a double digit cumulative annual growth rate over the past six years with the end of the three-decade terrorist war.

The Index is an indication that Sri Lanka is an appealing tourist destination and has a great future in this lucrative sector. The second and third position of the index was secured by Chengdu and Abu Dhabi.
