SAARC Family Fiesta

The annual fund raiser of the SAARC Women's Association will be held on 14 June, 2015 at the Women's International Club, Guildford Crescent, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.

The proceeds of the fund raiser will be channelled towards a noteworthy cause, the Cancer Transit Home, Maharagama, that provides shelter to thousands of cancer patients who otherwise do not have a place in which to stay when they come to Colombo for treatment at the National Cancer Institute.

"Many of them come from far off places, and in the past, they had no choice but to take the bus back to their homes as they had no place to stay, and come back the next day for further treatment. We have decided to donate the proceeds of the SAARC Family Fiesta 2015 toward the Transit Home that is a haven for cancer patients," the President, SAARC Women's Association, Janaki Fernando, said.

The SAARC Family Fiesta is for the whole family and will have a tantalizing array of food from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and a special Dessert Corner that will sell delicious cupcakes and other homemade sweets. Silver jewellery and costume jewellery will be available for purchase at the country stalls from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, in addition to designer clothes, gift items, linen, and a range of other quality goods.

Abans will hold cookery demonstrations.
