Free ballet workshop for advanced students
Freelance dance teacher and choreographer Seneka Abeyratne will
conduct a free 'Ballet Workshop for Advanced Students' from 10 am to 1
pm on Sunday 28 June at the Deanna School of Dancing, 30/63H Longden
Place, Colombo 7.

Part of the French Spring Festival 2015 presented by the Embassy of
France in Sri Lanka and the Alliance Francaise de Kotte, this workshop
is highly intensive and technique oriented. It is accordingly
recommended for dancers of a minimum age of 15 years and with at least
three years of regular classical ballet training.
The objective of the workshop is to introduce participants to jumps,
beats and turns commonly used in allegros and grand allegros. The core
of the workshop will comprise a series of brisk across-the-floor
combinations.
Seneka Abeyratne is versatile in classical ballet and western
contemporary dance. He studied classical ballet at the Khulsum School of
Dance for eight years and the Deanna School of Dancing for twelve years.
He conducts ballet classes for children at the Haywood Creative School,
Gampaha.
Abeyratne has presented several contemporary dance workshops at the
Deanna School of Dancing, the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, the
Fulbright Commission, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and the
Nelung Arts Center. This will be his first classical ballet workshop.
The workshop is free of charge with no prior registration required.
Participants must wear soft shoes and be neatly attired. Classical
