A musical journey that began in France will make its presence felt in
Sri Lanka once again, when Alliance Française de Colombo hosts 'Fête de
La Musique' (International Music Day ) on June 20, 2015
This unique musical event was first held in France on June 21, 1982
and is now celebrated all over the world. In France Professional and
Amateur Musicians take to the streets and parks on this day to celebrate
the arrival of Summer after a dismal Spring. It is free of charge and
thousands of people flock to the parks and streets to enjoy good music
and have great fun the whole day.
In Sri Lanka, the Festival has become an opportunity showcase talent
with both amateurs and professionls, be individuals, school bands,
schools music clubs, Interact Clubs , music groups, ballet schools /
groups, dance schools, music associations all invited to participate.
The only criteria are that the participants be able sing (in any
language), play any musical instrument or dance.
Entry to the event for the participants is free of charge and the
Organisers, Alliance Française de Colombo, will be providing the space,
sound systems and for those who need the background music by ANNESLEY
MALEWANA AND SUPER CHIMES.
There will also be many professional artistes who will perform as
guest artistes.
