Edulink International Campus awards schols
by Rohana Jayalal
Edulink International Campus launched its new programs last Sunday.
It provided an opportunity for students and parents to experience the
offerings of the campus.
Director, EDULINK International Campus, Kanishka Weeramunda said,
"The Sri Lankan education sector is very competitive and new institutes
offer degrees of various local and foreign universities. We offer
balanced higher education making the students time with us the most
invaluable investment for their future."
The key highlight of the launch was the awarding of 60 full and
partial scholarships in the fields of Business, Accounting and Finance
and IT.
Edulink will offer deserving students the opportunity of winning one
100%, five 50%, twenty five 25% and twenty-nine 10% scholarships.
"At Edulink, students' success plays an important role and we are
serious about our scholarship program. We view it as an academic
incentive for those who otherwise don't have the means of pursuing their
education, he said.
"Through the international program, we offer scholarships to students
in the Maldives, Pakistan, Uganda and Vietnam to come to Sri Lanka for
their higher studies. The international scholarship program is also
Edulink's way of assisting the Sri Lankan education sector," Weeramunda
said.
At Edulink, scholarships are regularly awarded to deserving students,
especially to family members of those in the forces, nurses and media
based on academic achievement, employment experience, areas of study and
financial need.
Recognising the immeasurable service provided by those in these
service sectors and their inability to invest a large amount of money on
higher education, Edulink places a significant importance in providing
them scholarships.
Professor and Group Academic Director, Edulink Consultants, Helen
Mason said, "The group's mission is provision of college and university
education in Asia, Africa, and Middle east by setting up academic
cooperation with UK Universities. Edulink Consultants provides funds for
the development of new business ventures and scholarship programs in
various countries of selected regions."
"Our programs will incorporate the latest educational developments
internationally. The local academic staff that we employ will be
introduced to international teaching standards and will benefit from our
program of continuing professional development," she said.
Edulink also provides additional support to international students in
finding suitable accommodation, training opportunities and internships.
Through their strong network, the Campus helps graduates find
internship opportunities in countries such as Dubai and UK. All students
at Edulink are encouraged to lead a balanced life, not limiting
themselves to academics and books.
The Institution offers internal British degrees from the prestigious
Universities of Greenwich, University of Northampton and other leading
UK universities, to Sri Lankan students under a range of subjects
including Business, Accounting and Finance and Computer Science.
Students have access to more than 118,000 e-books and over 14,000
e-journals on various subjects. The Campus offers UK-accredited degrees
at Foundation, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels which are
recognised and demanded by employers locally and internationally.
Edulink campuses are subject to the same quality assurance procedures
observed at every top university in UK.
The degree programs offered at the campuses are recognised all over
the world because they are validated and monitored in the same way and
the same standards as those offered at UK campuses.
The campus is owned by Edulink Consultants, a multinational higher
education company which has been in operation since 2004. It is the
leading company in the Edulink Group based in Dubai and is a educational
services provider that has built strategic partnerships with renowned
academic institutions from across the globe. |
