Kelani Saviya, expands to N and E

Kelani Cables PLC has been conducting the CSR program, Kelani Saviya with the engineering faculty of the Peradeniya University since 2007.

CEO, Kelani Cables, Mahinda Saranapala said novices and students who leave school and look forward to self-employment are attracted to the Kelani Saviya electrical technicians training program. He said the CSR program has trained over 250 youth to date.

"Today, many of these youth employed in local and foreign companies have established themselves. We pay our gratitude to the engineering faculty of the Peradeniya University for conducting this productive program," he said.

"We extended the program to the North and the East in the country under the brand name, Kelani Shakthi last year and the first program was held at the Jaffna University," the CEO said.

Vice Chancellor, Peradeniya University, Prof. Athula Senaratne said students should derive optimum benefit from Kelani Saviya.

"Students who have completed the program and obtained certificates today are a special breed in the education sector. I make a humble request to the certificate holders. Peradeniya University is a forerunner in the education sector in this country. As far as technical knowledge, attire and socialising is concerned people from this university stand tall among others. You too have the responsibility to carry this spirit forward," he said.
