Balasuriya new Kandy SC President

Udaya Balasuriya has been appointed as the new President of the Kandy Sports Club at the Annual General Meeting held at the Club House at Nittawela, Kandy on Sunday the 25th of June 2015. Udaya is the Nephew of E.W. Balasuriya, former Sports promoter of the City of Kandy. The Kandy Sports Club is functioning as a Sports Club for the last 141 years. Udaya Balasuriya succeeded Dr. Sarath Kapuwatte who was the President of the Club for 15 years. During his tenure of service, the Club became Champions in Rugby for 14 years except last year.

An Old Boy of Trinity College, Kandy, Udaya played for the School Rugby XV in the year 1979 as a Second Row Forward. His team mates were Tikiri Ellepola, Ravi Bandaranayake and Kumar Bulathsinhala to name a few. Before becoming the President Udaya was the Senior Vice President of the Kandy Sports Club.

He gave a speech and thanked the Members of the Club for electing him as the President of the Club.
