New rules for teams going overseas

The National Sports Council headed by former DIG Nimal Lewke has recommended to the Sports Minister Navin Dissanayake that any national team taking part in an international competition should be selected one month prior to the international event and permission obtained from the Sports Ministry.

They also must submit the preparation plan and the progress run up of the event to the Ministry accordingly.

The Sports Minister after seeing this request has approved the proposal and instructed the Director General / Sports, to follow this proposal and to inform all National Sports Controlling Associations and Unions.
