Gota's nomination and 'mega police'
It has now been revealed that a certain 'Hula', who made headlines
over the past five years due to his famous love affairs and infamous
suicide attempts, was the one who created the link between 'Muja' and
the Sri Lankan defence establishment.
Hula was a person who had immense influence over the country's
defence mechanism before he got caught red-handed for abusing his power
to 'help' his famous girlfriends.
However, initial investigations carried out by Police have revealed
the names of political bigwigs, businessmen, artistes, VVIP wives and
sons who maintained strong links with the international drug kingpin.A
certain queen of the silver screen, who was even elected to the
country's highest law-making body, had visited Muja's palatial house in
Malaysia with her young actor-boyfriend, a few years back.
Muja had spent money lavishly to entertain his Sri Lankan guests in
Malaysia, thinking they would come to his rescue in times of need, say
some, behind closed doors.
Running in the family
UNP candidate Ananda Aluthgamage, during a recent political talk
show, found himself in an embarrassing situation when he attempted to
explain the term 'megapolis' mentioned in the UNP's election manifesto.
When asked about the term, the UNP candidate suggested that it was a
'specialised police unit' aimed at curbing bribery, corruption and
crimes! The answer showed that the UNP Kandy District candidate had
little idea about the content of his party's election manifesto.
Aluthgamage, who made the boo-boo during the political talk show, is the
cousin of former Sports Minister and UPFA candidate Mahindananda
Aluthgamage. "Probably, it is something running in the family," an
ex-Parliamentarian of the UNP told one of his colleagues while watching
the talk show on television.
Wrong flag
The Bodu Bala Sena organization, whose doings may have helped in
former President Rajapaksa's election defeat in January, is now involved
in under-the-radar missions to support the campaign of the former
President, according to whispers behind closed doors.
Although the BBS is contesting the Parliamentary election as a
separate front, it refrains from criticizing Rajapaksa or his election
campaign during public meetings.
However, the BBS cat jumped out of Rajapaksa's bag when the
Yatinuwara PS Chairman was arrested by Police last week for displaying
an altered national flag during a political rally attended by Rajapaksa.
A protest was immediately organized against the arrest and the
protestors openly displayed altered national flags, describing them as 'Sinhale
flags'.
They said the arrest of Yatunawara PS Chairman was illegal as what he
displayed was the 'true flag' of the nation. Those who were at the
forefront of the protest in support of these flag-wavers were some Bodu
Bala Sena candidates contesting the Parliamentary election.
