Chevron Corporation, USA, third in Fortune 500 listing

Chevron Corporation, USA, made news recently with high rankings in both the Fortune 500 listings of the world's biggest companies and Business Insider's rating of "the best companies to work for in America."

In the Fortune 500 ranking, the company earned the third spot for the second consecutive year.

A Fortune report noted that the company strengthened by its exploration successes, adding the equivalent of more than a billion barrels of oil through discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico as well as Australia, Canada and the US's Permian Basin.

Chevron is counting on future gains from the Gorgon project when it comes online in Western Australia as well as expanded production in the Gulf of Mexico, Bangladesh and Nigeria.

The Company's Downstream sector has improved, partly as a result of reduced refining costs stemming from low oil prices. Now in its 61st year, the Fortune 500 ranks companies on the basis of total revenues, profits, assets, employee base, earnings per share, and total return to investors. Chevron has been on Fortune 500's list every year since its inception. Business Insider also ranked Chevron as the number one energy company to work for - and fourth among all companies - in its annual employee survey, conducted by PayScale.

Launched in 2007, Business Insider is the largest business news site on the web.

Chevron Corporation US owns 51% of Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC. As a member of the world-renowned Chevron family, Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC is proud of the Fortune 500 and Business Insider ranking which translates into a stronger value proposition to all stakeholders across the world.
