At the seaside
When I was down beside the sea,
A wooden spade they gave to me,
To dig the sandy shore,
My holes were empty like a cup,
In every hole the sea came up,
Till it could come no more.

Cell Phone
by Loarnne Guenther
Child:
I'd like a brand new, red cell phone.
With voice and text and worldwide roam!
And I'll call grandma every day,
To tell her what I did at play.
Mother:
Dear, I think perhaps you'd better -
Just write her a lovely letter.

The first book
Rita Dove
Open it,
Go ahead, it won't bite,
Well... maybe a little.
More a nip, like a tingle,
It's pleasurable, really.
You see, it keeps on opening,
You may fall in.
Sure, it's hard to get started,
Remember learning to use.
Knife and fork? Dig in,
You'll never reach the bottom.
It's not like it's the end of the world...
Just the world as you think,
You know it.

Reduce, reuse, recycle
Reduce, reuse, recycle,
Recycle, recycle,
Reduce, reuse, recycle,
It's easy to do!
Cause your trash
And my trash
Make up way
Too much trash,
Reduce, reuse, recycle,
It's easy to do!
