AAC medical camp at Kirindiwela

The Automobile Association of Ceylon (AAC) will hold a medical camp headed by Dr. Lakshman Weerasena at the Monoposha International School, Hanwella Road, Kirindiwela on Saturday, August 8 from 8.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

The camp will provide medicines, vitamins and also monitor ECG, blood sugar, lung, heart, diabetes, skin and arthritis.

Clinics will be provided for ENT, eye, obstetrics and gynaecology. Free spectacles will also be distributed.


Krishnamurti talk

A recorded public talk on 'Love and Death' delivered by the late Indian sage, Jiddu Krishnamurti will be replayed at the Study Centre, Beddagana, Duwa Road, Kotte today (August 2) at 10.30 a.m.

It is organised by the Krishnamurti Centre, Sri Lanka Inc.


Annual perahera of Seenigama Devalaya

The perahera of the Sri Devol Maha Devalaya of Seenigama will commence on August 6 and conclude on August 13.

An all-night pirith ceremony will be held on August 6 followed by a Sanghika Dhana to the Maha Sangha. There will be two night peraheras on August 10 and 11.


Career Guidance for Peradeniya undergrads

The Student Welfare Committee of the Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya Colombo Chapter (AAUP-CC) has organised a Career Guidance program for undergraduates of the Peradeniya University on August 8 from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. at the Seminar Room, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya.

The selection of the participants (limited to 50) will be done by the Deans of the Faculties of Arts and Science on a first come first served basis.

It is coordinated by President C. Suriyaarachchi (0773204645), Committee Chairman K.M.D. Gunaratne (0776358645) and Committee Member Mrs. Sujatha Karunaratna (0779311576).


Nowfal Jabir no more

Sri Lanka’s former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Beruwala China Fort Mosque, Al-Haj Nowfal S. Jabir (78) passed away yesterday. Janaza leaves his residence for burial at the China Fort Jumma Mosque, burial grounds at 4.30 p.m. today (Sunday).
