Prince of Wales shock champs Richmond

Prince of Wales College Moratuwa beat depending champions Richmond College by 38 runs in a pre-quarter final match of the Singer Trophy Under 17 Division One inter school cricket tournament on Thursday.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka youth cap and right hand batsman Avishka Fernando of St. Sebastian’s College scored 170 in 127 balls with 11 sixes and 13 boundaries making his fourth century in the current season while Heshan Fernando of Isipathana scored an unbeaten 101 in 106 balls with 11 boundaries and five sixes against St. Joseph’s College.

Heshan Fernando and Pethum Nissanka (95 n.o.) produced an unbroken stand of 196 runs for the fourth wicket.

In another feat St.Peter’s College batsman Manelka de Silva scored 132 with five sixes and 18 boundaries as his team beat Nalanda.

Prince of Wales, Sri Sumangala Panadura, St. Peter’s, Thurstan, Trinity, St.Sebastian’s and Isipathana advanced to the quarter final round.

St.. Sebastian’s will meet Sri Sumangala and Isipathana will meet St. Peter’s in the quarter finals next week.

Prince of Wales College will meet Trinity in another quarter final.
