Wijeweera's family asked to quit hostel

The Sri Lankan Navy has served notice on Chitranganie, wife of the late JVP founder Rohana Wijeweera and their four children to vacate the hostel they are now occupying at the Welisara Navy Camp by September 30, according to top sources.

Following the death of Rohana Wijeweera in 1989, his family continued to live at the Trincomalee Navy Camp till 1994 and thereafter, at the Welisara camp until notice of vacation was served.

It is learnt that the Wijeweera family does not have a regular income and survive on a stipend provided by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), in recognition of the party's founder. Of the six children, only four remain with Wijeweera's widow at present.
