Kushan, Ishan the racers to beat

Wonder kids with lion hearts roar like thunder at Walawe in side-show spectacle:

Ishan Dassanayake once again proved that he is among the elite club of riders in the country while young Kushan Peiris established his name as one of the best racing drivers when they dominated the Sri Lanka Military Corps of Engineers racing track in Embilipitiya as the Walawe Super Cross 2015 got underway on a grand scale last weekend.


Racing cubs with lion hearts: Abishek Bandara, Demitha Jayawardena, Vinuda Devunaka, Rivinu Ratnayake, Gagana Fernando, Minuka Ratnayake, Pathum Rashmika, Tharusha Anjana, Theekshana Perera, Savindu Chandrasiri, Sadeepa Oshada, Rashmi Karunaratne, Saseka Ratnayake who conquered the adults track at Walawe

Kushan's heroics included two wins. In the Motor Cars Group SL-S - upto 1500 cc event, Kushan allowed no room for others to impress and went on to secure a comprehensive victory. Zaakir Wahab and Glen Jayasekera finished second and third respectively.

Kushan then went on to win the 1500 CC SLN event putting veteran driver Upulwan Serasinghe into the second place while Lt Colonel Duminda Jayasinghe secured the third place.

Meanwhile the 1300 CC SLN Ford Lazer Mazda race was won by Upulwan Serasinghe where Kushan finished second.

Former champion rider who hails from Kurunegala, Ishan Dassanayake showed his class in the Group MX-Racing Motorcycles Open 2T and 4T Special Club Event and booked the top spot on the podium ahead of Nishida Jin Liyanage and Buddhika Kasun de Silva who finished second and third respectively.

Earlier he won the Group MX-Racing Motorcycles upto 125 cc (2T) event with Sameera Premaratne and Buddhika Kasun de Silva finishing behind him.

In the fastest action of the day, the Motor Cars Group SL-GT upto 3500 cc Supercar event, Ashan Silva once again showed he deserved the crown when he maintained a clear lead ahead of second placed Ishraq Wahab and Missaka Naveen who came in third.

Organized by the Sri Lanka Military Corps of Engineers in collaboration with Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club, the fifth episode of the Walawe Super Cross saw super skills of drivers and riders with more spectators and better organization.

Another interesting feature of the races was the participation of a host of junior Under-10 racers who became the cynosure of all eyes as they daringly displayed super promise for the future. Racing in the Upto 50cc category, Gagana Fernando won the event while Demitha Jayawardena and Tharusha Anjana came in second and third respectively.
