The conference was first organised by the Faculty in 2002 and it was
expanded in 2005 to accommodate international researchers, and since
then was renamed 'International Research Conference of Management and
Finance (IRCMF)'.
Professor of Leadership and Management and the Director of the newly
set up Bristol Leadership Centre at the University of the West of
England (UWE), Prof. Richard Bolden delivered the keynote address at
IRCMF 2015.
He is a renowned researcher in the fields of Leadership Studies and
Organizational Psychology.
In his keynote address titled 'Leadership Paradoxes: Rethinking
Leadership for an Uncertain World' he highlighted five leadership
paradoxes namely: in attempting to identify and measure leadership we
may lose sight of the very thing we are seeking to capture, to better
understand leadership we need to spend less time studying leaders, the
most effective leaders may well be those who are not considered as
leaders, attempts by organizations to develop and implement leadership
may actually destroy it, and to gain power and influence you have to
give it away.
The keynote address also provided a platform to reflect upon
contemporary Sri Lankan business issues and the importance of forming a
local vision to lead in volatile and uncertain business contexts.
