PRECIFAC summons Yasara and other Carlton Sports top officials

Several top officials of the Sri Lankan Airlines and the Carlton
Sports Network - the Cable TV Station - including Yasara Abeynayake are
summoned this week to give statement for the current investigation over
the allegations against Sri Lankan Catering Service.
Nearly 80% of the preliminary investigations conducted by the
Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into
Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources,
and Privileges (PRECIFAC) have been completed so far.
A serious misuse of state power that has been taken place in the
National Housing Development Authority has come under investigation of
the PRECIFAC, as its newest investigation.
According to Lacil de Silva, Secretary to the PRECIFAC, the special
police team has started the investigations, based on the public
complaint received by the Commission. Accordingly, relevant personnel
and officials will be summoned to the Commission in due course to get
statements.
Seven houses have been given in a tainted deal to family members and
friends of former first lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and Parliamentarian
Wimal Weerawansa, who was the then Minister of Housing and Common
Amnesties.
Former Minister Weerawansa has handed over houses from Mattegoda,
Polgasowita and Maligawatte housing schemes to two of his nephews' wives
Wathsala Kumarasinghe and Tharangamala Muthuranaweera, wife's
sister-in-law Wasantha Rupasinghe, one brother -in-law M. Hemasiri and
to another brother-in-law Ananda Priyadarshana. |
