26 girls schools contest all-island cricket title

Twenty six school teams will contest the girls Under-19 inter school cricket tournament from next week in seven groups on a League basis.

The matches will be played as 25 overs per side games.

Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda won the championship last season beating Devapathiraja College Ratgama in the final.

Sixteen teams will play in the second round on a knock-out basis.

Teams:

Group A: Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda, Gothami Balika Vidyalaya Colombo, Ratnavali Balika Vidyalaya Gampaha, Bandaranayake Central Meerigama

Group B: Gamini MMV Ingiriya, Mahanama MV Panadura, Kuruvita Central, Devapathiraja College Ratgama

Group C: St. Anthony's Convent Kandy, Gothami Balika Vidyalaya Kandy, Theldeniya NationalSchool, Poramadulla Central Rikillagaskada, Group D: Ethiliwewa Maha Vidyalaya, Dutugemunu National School Buttala, Vijayabahu MV Okkampitiya, Sri Indratissa MV Ampara

Group E: Galagedara Central College, Nugawela Central College, Mahamaya Girls College Kandy, Pindeniya National School Matale

Group F: Vishaka Vidyalaya Bandarawela, Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya Badulla, Good Shepherd Convent Nuwara Eliya

Group G: UB.Wanninayake National School Galgamuwa, Holy Angels Balika Vidyalaya Kuliyapitiya, Siddhartha Central Eppawala -(YK)
