Colombo Dockyard delivers tug and barge
Colombo Dockyard PLC recently completed and delivered an eight-ton
bollard pull tug (Femunu) and a 45 metre flat-top barge (Fehurihi) to
the State Trading Organization (STO) of the Maldives.
Managing Director, STO, Ahmed Shaheer and Managing Director and CEO,
Colombo Dockyard, Ranil Wijegunawardane signed the handing over
protocols.
General Manager (Transport) Abdul Wahid Moosa and Technical
Superintendent, STO, Mohamed Nimal, Chairman Dr. Toru Takehara, Director
M. Koshi, General Manager, Shipbuilding, D.V. Abeysinghe, Manager,
Special Projects, S.D. Gilbert, senior management and the project
management team of Colombo Dockyard, the Indian Register of Shipping
(IRS), surveyors of the project led by Country Manager D.V.D. Prasada
Rao and Surveyor Chanaka Rupasinghe, and Director General of Merchant
Shipping in Sri Lanka, Ajith Seneviratne were also present.
During the past four decades, Colombo Dockyard has had a close and
cordial relationship with Maldivian clients having built a number of
35-metre fisheries protection craft, 40-metre fisheries protection
vessels, fire/patrol boat, 24-metre coastal surveillance vessels, fast
landing craft, and fish collector vessels. |
