CB Governor to open Regional Office
Central Bank (CB) Governor Arjuna Mahendran will open a Regional
Office in Nuwara Eliya today, January 17 to further expand its regional
presence, promote financial inclusion and facilitate economic
activities.
The senior management of the Central Bank and senior officials of
commercial banks and government institutions are expected to be present.
With the opening of the regional office in Nuwara Eliya, the Central
Bank will be in a better position to give priority to EPF related
operations in Nuwara Eliya and Badulla, as they are dominated by the
plantation sector.
People’s Leasing opens branch in Kalawana
People’s Leasing and Finance PLC (PLC) opened the 92nd branch in
Kalawana recently.
CEO and General Manager, PLC, D. P. Kumarage was also present.
CEO Kumarage said, “The objective of commissioning the branch at
Kalawana was to provide an opportunity for people in Sabaragamuwa to
benefit from customer friendly and hassle free convenience leasing
services provided by PLC.”
People’s Leasing Company was commissioned in 1995 as a wholly owned
subsidiary of the People’s Bank. PLC has retained the market leader
position for 14 consecutive years in the non-bank finance sector.
Fitch Rating Lanka has assigned PLC a credit rating of AA-(lka) which
makes PLC one of the the highest rated finance companies, in recognition
of the quality credit and other factors.
DFCC Bank in children’s savings drive
DFCC Bank conducted a New Year children’s savings drive. The Bank
invited parents to open savings accounts for their children on January
1, with an additional Rs 1,000 by the Bank to the account.
The promotion was aimed at encouraging parents to consciously save
for the future of their children. There was double the expected number
of children’s account being opened across 137 branches on this day and
DFCC Bank honoured its pledge of an additional Rs. 1,000 into all such
accounts.

Ford launches Service A-Team
Future Automobiles, the sole agent for Ford vehicles in Sri Lanka,
launched the Ford Service A-Team recently, entrusting vehicle after-care
to a five-member panel of senior executives.
After-care services have been revamped signalling the intent and
focus of CEO Chamath Tennekoon, who said service was the key criterion
in winning customers and has taken steps to identify, address and offer
solutions to key service demands of faithful Ford owners.
He set the new initiative when he penned a letter presenting the Ford
Service A-team to Ford owners, which contained the names and contact
numbers of the executives and encouraged Ford owners to call them
directly.
Rajya Osu Sala Karapitiya relocated

Rajya Osu Sala at Maitipe, Karapitiya was relocated to Hiribura Road,
Karapitiya. The new location has ample space for customers. Rajya Osu
Sala focuses on providing safe and efficacious drugs at an affordable
price. A five percent discount is offered to prescriptions of pregnant
mothers, children under five and senior citizens over 55. The State
Pharmaceuticals Corporation operates and manages the Rajya Osu Sala
network of 30 Osusalas islandwide. |
Glorious Residencies launched
A&D Property Developers (Pvt) Ltd., launched Glorious Residencies,
the super luxury housing and trade complex on January 8.
The handing over of deeds and ownership documents to buyers who had
reserved houses from the housing and trade complex took place at the
event. The Memorandum of Understanding between ICC Construction Company,
the official builders of ‘Glorious Residencies’ and A&D Property
Developers (Pvt) Ltd., was also signed at the launch. The 12-storeyed
housing complex will be constructed at Udugahawalauwa Watta,
Bandaranaike Mawatha, Colombo 12. Udugahawalauwa is close to Armour
Street.
Inducted President, College of Surgeons

The senior most surgeon in service and the Chairman of the Board of
Study in Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine, Colombo and the Lady
Ridgeway Hospital for Children, Dr Ranjan Dias, was inducted as the 34th
President of the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka on January 9 at the
College of Surgeons auditorium. |
