South Island town runs out of water
The small South Island township of Hamner Springs ran out of water
recently. The North Canterbury town's reservoir ran dry because it could
not meet the demand, over the holiday season.
Local residents were asked to keep their taps turned off overnight to
allow the reservoir to fill. District Mayor Winton Dalley said water
pressure was now back to normal. Dalley said soaring temperatures caused
the rise in demand and called upon residents to be mindful of their
water use.

A chocolate bar that doesn't melt
A Swiss chocolate company has made a chocolate bar that doesn't melt.
The company believes that they have made a bar that melts in your
mouth - not in your pocket. The 'unmeltable' chocolate can be enjoyed in
temperatures up to 38C. The bar is made by Barry Callebaut, the world's
largest maker of chocolate and cocoa products by volume.
Chief Executive Antoine de Saint-Affrique said the secret behind its
creation is the way the chocolate is formed.
He said the new bar would be exported to warmer climates such as in
the Middle East, where chocolate is still not as popular as biscuits or
cakes.
