Meelad un Nabi celebration

Borella Ahadiyya School will hold the annual Meelad-un-Nabi celebration on January 17 at 9. 30 am at the Al Hijra Maha Vidyalaya Hall, Colombo .

It will be held under the patronage of Principal Shibly Hashim. Maligawatte Sri Saddharmarama Temple Viharadipathi and Maligawatte Hemamali Balika Vidyalaya staffer, Ven. Giragama Sagara Thera will be the chief guest. Moulavi M. Sajeer will be the guest speaker. State Minister of Integration A.H.M. Fowzie and Hashim Omar will also grace the event.


Meelad-un-Nabi in Beruwala

The 36th Meelad-un-Nabi celebrations and prize-giving of China Fort Young Men’s Halara Jamath will be held today, January 17 at 4.00 p.m. at the S.M. Jabir Hajiar Memorial Hall, Al-Humaisara National School, China Fort, Beruwala.

Al-Haj M.C.M. Hamza, Chairman, China Fort Jamiathul Fassiya will preside.

Al-Haj M.H.A. Haleem, Minister of Muslim Religious Affairs and a past pupil will be the chief guest.

ATP certificate–awarding ceremony on Jan. 20

The certificate-awarding ceremony of the Advanced Training Programs (ATPs) on ‘Law and the Citizen & Women’s and Children’s Rights’ conducted by the Centre for the Study of Human Rights (CSHR), University of Colombo, under the All-inclusive Reconciliation and Development in Eastern Sri Lanka (AiRD) Project, implemented in collaboration with World Vision Lanka funded by the European Union will be held on Wednesday, January 20 at 10.00 a.m. at the Sea Lotus Park Hotel, Trincomalee.

Around 100 persons from Seruvila and the Verugal Divisional Secretariat divisions underwent training under the programs.

Officers from the District Secretariat, Human Rights Commission and Sri Lanka Police will also attend the ceremony.


Public Representations Committee to begin first sitting

The Public Representations Committee on Constitutional reforms is expected to hold the first public sittings at Visumpaya in Staples Street in Colombo 2 from January 18 - 22 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The sittings will be open to the public. Members of the public are invited to make representations. The committee welcomes written and oral representations.
