President emulates Buddha's and Prophet Mohamed's teachings
I was impressed with President Maithripala Sirisena's gesture to
pardon a former LTTE cadre who attempted to assassinate him in 2006 when
he was the Minister of Mahaweli Development. The President pardoned the
man on the first anniversary celebration in office on January 8, 2016.
He emulated the teachings of the Buddha 'Hatred ceases with love' and
Prophet Mohamed who even pardoned his enemies.
While appreciating the President's act of detracting animosity, I
hope future leaders of our country too would follow in his footsteps to
build a hatred-free and peaceful Sri Lanka.
Long live the President and may his services continue for a united
Sri Lanka!
