HNB chief wins HR award

Managing Director and CEO, Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB), Jonathan Alles received the 'CEO with HR orientation' award at the Global HR Excellence Awards 2016, sponsored by CIMA - the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK and endorsed by the World HRD Congress and Asian Confederation of Businesses.

Alles holds an MBA from the University of Stirling, Scotland and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Sri Lanka. He has almost three decades of banking experience having served domestic and international banks in strategic and leadership roles. He now serves as the Chairman, Sri Lanka Banks Association.
 


Investment and Business Conclave 2016

The upcoming 'Sri Lanka Investment and Business Conclave 2016,' organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will provide a huge opportunity for Sri Lanka to showcase its economic potential to over 120 promising investors at the three-day event, which begins on Tuesday, March 8.

Investors from 27 countries are due to take part in the event, with the largest numbers coming from Kuwait - 25, South Korea - 21 and China - 17.

The majority of investors are keen to find opportunities in export manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructure development, export services, local knowledge services, power and energy, and tourism and leisure sectors.


Project Management Confab in Colombo

Project Management Institute (PMI), a not-for-profit professional membership association for the project, program and portfolio management profession launched the Asia Pacific Regional Leadership meeting (LIM) in Colombo yesterday. It will continue today. The Project Management Conference 2016 on the theme 'Orchestrate for Success' will be held tomorrow, March 7 at Galle Face Hotel, organised by the PMI Sri Lanka Chapter. Over 300 delegates are due to participate.

Founded in 1969, PMI delivers value to over 2.9 million professionals, working in nearly every country, through global advocacy, collaboration, education and research.


Construction Expo in July

Construction Expo 2016, an exhibition featuring all aspects on the construction and building industry will be held from July 29-31 at the BMICH.

The Ceylon Institute of Builders with Lanka Exhibitions and Conference Services will organise this event for the fifth consecutive year.Endorsed by the construction fraternity as the premier construction and building materials exhibition to be staged in Sri Lanka, Construction Expo 2016 will showcase the best of what the industry has on offer.

Over the years, the exhibition has been a meeting place for consumers looking for different facets on the construction industry in terms of products and service providers. Exhibitors have found the exhibition to be a comprehensive platform to meet new customers, a spokesman for the organisers said.
