ADB clarifies: ‘Project review is routine’

The Asian Development Bank’s Sri Lanka office has denied that visiting ADB President Takehiko Nakao referred to a ‘former regime’ as reported on page one of the Business & Finance section of the Sunday Observer of February 28, 2016.

Referring to the news report, headlined ‘ADB to review projects funded during former regime’ the ADB in a letter that the report ‘mistakenly attributes the statement in the first sentence of the piece to ADB President Nakao, who in fact did not speak at this press conference or subsequently about this issue’.

The ADB adds that ‘ADB assesses all its projects, whether in Sri Lanka or elsewhere both during and after they are completed to review how they are performing’.


'Jothir Linga Dharshan'

The Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga Centre Sri Lanka has organised 'Jothir Linga Dharshan' of twelve famous Shiva temples located in different parts of India, at Saraswathy Hall, Lorenz Road, Colombo 4 from Sunday, March 6 from 9.00 a.m. to Tuesday, March 8 till 9.00 p.m.


Krishnamurti talk

A recorded public talk on 'An Intelligence Beyond Cause' by the late Indian sage, Jiddu Krishnamurti will be replayed at the Study Centre, Beddagana, Duwa Road, Kotte today, March 6 at 10.30 a.m.

It is organised by the Krishnamurti Centre, Sri Lanka Inc.


'Space' to celebrate Women's Day

An unusual visual art exhibition titled 'Space', by The Women Artists' celebrating International Women's Day will open at the JDA Perera Gallery, Horton Place, Colombo 7 on Tuesday, March 8. at 5.30 p.m. On display will be the artwork of Achala Gunawardana, Amitha Indirani, Harsha Manojani, Ishani Ranaweera, Janani Cooray, Lasanthi Kaluthantrie, Manori Gamarachchige, Niluka Weerasinghe, Omali Radhika, Sajeewani Hewawitharana, Suranji Bandaranayaka and Veena Beauty.

The exhibition will continue till March 10


Visakha Avurudu Pola 2016

Avurudu Pola 2016 of Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo organised by the Old Girls' Association will be held on Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the School premises.
