Sound of Dreams

The SAARC Cultural Centre, Colombo, in collaboration with the Indian Cultural Centre will present Baawre Mann ke Sapne (Sound of Dreams) a National Award winning all woman Theatre Production by The Creative Arts, India, to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8, at 7.30 p.m. at the Lionel Wendt Art Centre, Guildford Crescent, Colombo 7.

Baawre Mann ke Sapne, has been women together through improvisations, incidents and real live experiences.

The actors have taken inspiration from various stories of Indian women writers and have merged them together to exist in one space.

The play takes inspiration from various stories by Indian women writers such as Jhumpa Lahiri, Bulbul Sharma, Abha Lyenger, Irene Dhar Malik, Lalitambika Antarjanam and others.

The performance is inspired by a journey of self-exploration and is forever evolving. Stories range from tradition and scepticism, collective responsibilities and individual choice, spanning themes f caste and hierarchy, relationships, physical and emotional violence, dreams and nightmare, sexuality and search for self-identity-with new vigour.

The play is directed by noted theatrician Sangeet Natak Akadami Awardee Ramanjit Kaur, whose career spans over 20 years of creative work and is presented by The Creative Arts India, established to create awareness about and impart formal, systematic training in theatre and other fine arts and to promote National and International collaborations.
