Seylan launches inaugural inter-bank Badminton Team tourney

The first ever inter bank badminton Team Championship will start today and culminate on March 13 at the Mercantile Badminton Association headquarters, Malalasekara Mawatha, Colombo 7.

The tournament titled SriLanka Badminton Super League - Battle of the Bankers 2016, is organized by Seylan Bank Sports Club as a Sri Lanka Badminton Association (SLBA) sanctioned event. Fourteen teams representing 10 licensed commercial and specialized banks in Sri Lanka will showcase their skills in what organisers say is a Grand Slam, Cup and Plate championship. Each tie will consist of seven matches which includes two men's singles, two women's singles, one men's double, one women's double and one mixed double.

A number of national ranked players including former national champions employed in banks will vie for honors in the tournament.

According to the organisers, the draw for the tournament conducted by SLBA officials, was held on February 19 in the presence of the captains.

Participating teams: Bank of Ceylon, Commercial Bank, Hatton National Bank, Seylan Bank A, Seylan Bank B, Nations Trust Bank A, Nations Trust Bank B, National Development Bank, HSBC A, HSBC B, Union Bank, Pan Asia Bank, Sanasa Development Bank A, Sanasa Development Bank B.
