NSB celebrates 44th anniversary
The National Savings Bank commemorated its 44th anniversary with a
series of programs and the main function was held on March 16 at the
Head Office of the Bank.
A multi-religious ceremony was held to convey the blessings on the
staff members and the customers of the Bank and all people of the
country. Many programs have also been organised at branch level.
The Aluth Avurudu Wasana Scheme implemented by the Bank annually
during the Sinhala and Hindu New Year kicked off for 2016 at the Head
Office Branch and 10 top customers of the Branch were presented gifts to
mark the event.
The Chairman, National Savings Bank, Aswin de Silva, General Manager
and CEO, Dammika Perera and the senior management and staff members of
the Bank were present.
Chairman de Silva said, "The National Savings Bank (NSB) is
campaigning to change the mindset of various social groups in Sri Lanka.
The first thing a person should do with his income is to allocate a
portion of it for savings before laying it out on various expenses.
Saving is the first bill you should pay and it will may you feel
safe, unlike many other expenses you have to meet.
The Chairman said that National Savings Bank always strives to
encourage everyone to save making them aware of the undeniable value of
saving and the Bank has taken measures to inculcate the savings habit
from childhood through school banks and to empower members of security
forces and police through special savings schemes.
General Manager and CEO Perera said, "Just as the founders of the
Bank envisaged we have been assigned the mandate of inculcating the
habit of saving among the people, especially the rural and under-banked
masses. We pledge to create a solid savings base for the country."
The National Savings Bank is the largest specialised bank in Sri
Lanka. It is also the first and the only bank in the country to obtain
the AAA (lka), long term credit rating by Fitch Ratings Lanka and to
maintain it for 13 consecutive years. |
