Prasad Gunewardene no more

Veteran journalist Prasad Gunewardene (61) passed away on Thursday.

An old boy of S. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia, he was a commentator and columnist of repute.

After his stint with the Sun Newspaper Group, Gunewardene joined the Island as its News Editor and later the Daily News and the Sunday Observer as Senior Associate Editor. He was also the Editor of the Friday Magazine published by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (Lake House). He joined Ceylon Today in 2014 as Associate Editor and the Nation Newspaper where he was the Senior Deputy Editor at the time of his demise.

He leaves his wife Soundari, children Shavindrani (GTL (Pvt) Ltd) Dilshan (IMS Holdings) and Suwendrini.

The cortege leaves residence 190/5 B Gunesekara Mawatha, Mahabage, Ragama at 3.00 p.m. today, April 3. Burial at Galudupita cemetery RC section.
