Business groups in flood relief
Business groups are helping those who have been affected by the recent floods
and landslides.
The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) have
launched emergency relief campaigns and are working with government authorities
to distribute goods and essential food items. CSE flood relief campaign
The CSE is collecting and distributing relief goods and essentials including
bottled water, dry rations, clothing, stationery and blankets to the affected
areas.
Those who wish to contribute can hand over their donations during business hours
on or before Thursday, May 26 to the CSE Head Office at Level 4, West Block,
World Trade Centre or CSE branches in Matara, Kandy, Kurunegala, Negombo, Jaffna,
Anuradhapura, Hambantota and Ratnapura. For further information contact:

CCC and A-PAD
The CCC and the National Platform of the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster
Management (A-PAD) have launched an emergency relief campaign and appeal to its
members and the business community to provide urgent requirements for those
affected.
Among the items needed are dry rations, mats, bedsheets, mobile toilet units,
tents, rain coats, tarpaulin, boots and emergency lamps.
The Ministry of Disaster Management has called for dry rations such as, rice,
dhal, potatoes, curry and chilli powder, tinned fish, tea, sugar and biscuits.
The authorities hope to provide a pack of dry rations worth Rs. 2,000 for each
affected family.
