over stockpile location, weapons inventory:
The twin police and military investigations launched into the Salawa
military disaster is likely to dig deep into various controversies
surrounding the Army’s major arms and munitions storage facility at
the heart of last Sunday’s devastating fire, including an imminent
government audit of the Army’s weapons inventory.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) teams now probing last
week’s devastating fire at the Salawa Army base munitions stockpile
have, so far, only been given limited and controlled access into
sections of the base. According to top CID sources.
The launching ceremony of the Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel, built
by Goa Shipyards Ltd for the Sri Lanka Navy, came about on a grand
scale at Goa Shipyard in India recently. Secretary to the Ministry
of Defence, Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi and Mrs. Wasantha
Gunawardena along with Commander of the Navy.
