Pak-Lanka fundraiser in Colombo
The Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship, Trade and Investment Association
in collaboration with the High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka
organized a fun-filled Fund Raising Master Quiz Competition and a
photographic exhibition by French and Pakistani photographers in
Colombo.

The photographic exhibition titled 'See Pakistan-Love Pakistan' by
Bilal Javaid and Imran Chaudhry, was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Maj.
Gen. (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain, the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri
Lanka. The exhibition featured photographs of culture, heritage and
beautiful landscape of Pakistan.
The High Commissioner while appreciating the work of the
photographers, said that the photographic exhibition will not only
promote the soft image of the country but also promote the national
talents in the field of paintings, photography and other forms of art in
other markets.
Shakeel Hussain, said the deep bond of cordial friendship and
understanding between Pakistan and Sri Lanka has a solid and unblemished
history of standing together for each other in difficult times.
He informed the gathering that on the special instructions of the
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan sent the most sacred Gandhara
Relics of the Buddha to Sri Lanka for a month long exposition as a token
of friendship from the people of Pakistan to the Sri Lankan people on
the occasion of Vesak Festival.
The exposition will further strengthen the already existing deep
rooted cultural relations between the two friendly nations, he added.
The High Commissioner underscored Pakistan's commitment to safeguard
and preserve not only all the Buddhist archaeological sites and
monuments but also ritual places of other religions as well in the best
possible manner.
The featured event for the day was an exciting and interesting fund
raising Master Quiz Competition in which participants contested as
teams.
The questions in the Master Quiz Competition were related to Sri
Lanka, Pakistan, world affairs, general knowledge, science and
technology and Sports among other topics.
The proceeds from the event will be channeled towards many welfare
projects of the Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship, Trade and Investment
Association.
The event was also attended by a large number of distinguished
personalities including the President SLPFTIA Iftikhar Aziz, officers of
the High Commission, Pakistan community based in Sri Lanka and other
dignitaries.
At the conclusion of the event, prizes were distributed to the
winning and runner-up teams.
The Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Trade and Investment Association is
one of the oldest Friendship Association of Sri Lanka which was
established 64 years back in 1950. The Association has been able to
establish itself as a useful platform, dedicated to the promotion of
bilateral relationship and friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
This relationship is not restricted to any one area or field, but it
encompasses every aspect of bilateral cooperation i.e. people to people
contacts, culture, education, health, etc. |
