Joint ventures with Pakistan and Israel:
CIC Holdings Plc is working on joint ventures
with Israel and Pakistan to strengthen two of the company’s main
business sectors – agriculture and healthcare/pharmaceutical
products. The company is investing Rs. 1 billion to launch the
cultivation of vegetables in greenhouses using the latest
technology.
Sri Lanka set up another milestone on the
region’s Broadband Technology landscape on Friday with an exposition
of South East Asia’s first 4.5G demonstration featuring download
speeds of over 1Gbps (Gigabits per second). The capability test was
carried out on the Huawei Technologies’ LTE infrastructure of Dialog
Axiata, a 4G network provider.
Sri Lanka needs to raise its tax to Gross
Domestic Product (GDP) ratio in the mid-term to around 15% to boost
government revenue and reduce borrowing, IMF Mission Chief for Sri
Lanka, Todd Schneider told journalists via a video conference at the
World Bank office in Colombo last week.
The proposed Western Region Megapolis Plan will
be institutionalized through an Act of Parliament to ensure it
remains intact as a stable ‘national policy’, Head of Investment,
Megapolis Project, Nayana Mawilmada told a group of Ceylon Chamber
officials last week.
