Late drop goal seals win

A last minute drop goal by Samuel Maduwantha helped St. Anthony's College beat Wesley College by 23 points (2 tries, 2 conversions, 2 penalties, 1 drop goal) to 22 (3 tries, 2 conversions, 1 penalty) in their inter-school division I 'Cup' second round match played at Nittawela yesterday. At half time Wesley led 19-13.

The victory was a well earned one for the Antonians. The game began with exchanges even and Wesley looking very dangerous. They led till the last minute and it should have been their game but luck was not with them.

Wesley settled down to play some heady rugby and exploited the Antonians' mistakes.

They constantly stormed into the Antonian territory and had their defenders on their toes.
