St. Joseph's bags the Plate trophy
St. Joseph's College took the Plate trophy when they beat Dharmaraja
College by 27 points (1 goal, 1 try, 5 penalties) to 10 points (1 goal,
1 try) in the final second round inter school rugby match played at
Bogambara Stadium yesterday.
The Josephians took control of the game in the first half and led
19-3 at the breather.
The Rajans were completely outplayed by the Joes' excellent team
work. They rucked, drove and powered their way to play a good run and
pass game of rugby. After a scrappy opening the winners got their act
together to control the game with some superb rugby.
St Joseph's dominated play in the loose and dictated terms right
throughout the game. Their third row did a good bit of work in the loose
play. The Rajan forwards failed to combine well but they were superior
in ball handling and reading the game, but lacked finish and their
tackling was also poor.
