Ranawiru Sevana Sports Club, Ragama clinched the National Blind Cricket
Championship beating Shakthi Sports Club, Moneragala by two wickets in the fifth
Dilma Challenge Trophy final played at the Royal College cricket grounds, Reid
Avenue yesterday.

Shakthi SC batting first scored 243 in 33 overs thanks to Damith Sandaruwan, who
hit 65 off 61 balls including three fours. Upul Sanjeewa
also chipped in with a 29-ball 30. Saman Kumara of Ranawiru Sevana captured 4
for 46 to take the man of the match award.
In reply, Ranawiru Sevana SC reached the target with two overs and a ball to
spare. Sahan Kumara top scored with 44 from 45 balls.
Dimuthu Ravindra, who was declared the Player of the Tournament in the B1
category, fully blind player category, hit a 17-ball 26.
Twelve teams took part representing all provinces in this year’s National Blind
Cricket tournament which was sponsored by Dilma Tea as Sri Lanka prepared for
next year’s Blind Cricket World Cup in January in India. Ports and Shipping
Minister Arjuna Ranatunga graced the occasion as chief guest and presented the
Championship Trophy. Former Test cricketers Brendon Kuruppu and Upul Chandana
gave away the other prizes.

Shakthi SC: 243 in 33.3 overs (Damith Sandaruwan 65, Upul Sanjeewa 30, Maanuka
Sachintha 24, Saman Kumara 4-46, JAK Jayasuriya 2-32, Dimuthu Ravindra 2-51),
Ranaviru Sevena SC: 247-8 in 37.5 overs (Sahan Kumara 44, Dimuthu Ravindra 26,
Suranga Sampath 2-39).
