JO likely to boycott convention

Final decision tomorrow:


The SLFP Parliamentary group in the Joint Opposition (JO) is scheduled to meet tomorrow (August 22) to take a final decision as to whether they would participate or not in the SLFP party convention, UPFA Gampaha District MP Prasanna Ranatunga told the Sunday Observer yesterday.

 

OMP Bill duly passed and legally valid – Speaker


Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said the Office of the Missing Persons (OMP) Bill has been duly passed as it was in order and was legally valid. It is the Joint Opposition’s (JO) contention that the OMP Bill was not properly passed in Parliament.

 

Unity Government turns one year:

Certainly, not a bed of roses


Exactly one year back on August 21, 2015 history was created in Sri Lanka, politically, when the two main parties reached a consensus to govern and make the country prosper, together. This was a fresh experience for the people.
