Damro Opens mega-showroom in Nugegoda

The South Asia's largest furniture manufacturer Damro offering a diverse range of modern and traditional furniture as well as a plethora of international household equipment recently inaugurated its five storied 50,000 sqft. mega-showroom in the heart of Nugegoda.

Following a moderate theme, Damro has exposed Sri Lankans by opening the Nugegoda mega-showroom to enjoy a new shopping experience by multiplying its 30 years of heritage and product diversification in many folds.

Speaking with the Sunday Observer, Damro Director Nalaka Gunathilake ensures Galle and Katubedda will be next in the company's long list of places identified for mega-showrooms. "Company was found in 1986. Today, Damro has achieved a rapid success and growth and now has more than 150 showrooms in Sri Lanka and 60 in India. "Damro owes its success to a simple formula - high quality furniture at affordable prices backed by excellent customer service. The mega-branch concept is the next step in our development," said Mr.Gunathilake who also highlighted the importance of maintaining competitive prices and promotions/ offers in modern marketing.

According to Director Calvin Croner the product and the price matters a lot to the consumer. However, Damro's after sales service is another area that requires highlighting. "We are the market leader in many products, which includes the furniture and the washing machines. The differentiation, which lead us to be the market leader is the unprecedented customer service. We have established a hotline that serves the customer questions on sales as well as after sales services. We attend to any request within a very short period of time. Mostly by visiting the customer location with a replacement while the servicing takes place," said Mr.Croner.

Damro, South Asia's largest furniture manufacturer, is a top brand for the sales and distribution of home appliances, consumer electronics. "We have started tapping into the regional markets. India is one of our strongholds. Our top quality furniture is the best not only in Sri Lanka but in India as well. For an example, here in this Nugegoda mega-showroom we display 70 sofas. It is wide selection catering to all needs of the customers in terms of colour, pattern, model, and the price. Apart from the sofas, we have put 50 different bedroom sets in display here," added Mr.Gunathilake who also confirmed the welcome note received from the Government of India to expand Damro presence in India.

Keeping the growth momentum, Damro plans to open a few more factories. "We have 1,400 showroom staffs with Damro. Including the factory and office staff the total comes to over 9,000. Opening of new factories and branches in the key cities will provide more direct and indirect employment opportunities," said Mr. Corner who listed Wattala, Ja-Ela, Malambe, Gampaha, Matara, Kaduwela, Monaragala, Kiribathgoda, Nittambuwa, and Grandpass for opening mega showrooms.
