UPFA MP Dinesh Gunawardena, a strong critic of
the Bill, said the passage of the OMP was against the Standing
Orders of Parliament. He pointed out to a clause in the Act, which
refers to an international convention on missing persons, and
demanded to know whether Sri Lanka has ratified it, while observing
that the Cabinet and Parliament should approve the ratification of
such a Convention.
