Trade experts to speak on FTAs
Ceylon Chamber of Commerce:
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will conduct a seminar titled 'Free
Trade Agreements: What to Look out for and How to Benefit from Them', to
help create awareness among the business community. The seminar, which
is held under the Chamber's newly launched 'Trade Intelligence
Platform,' will be held on September 19 at 2.30 pm at the Chamber
auditorium.
Executive Director, Institute of Policy Studies and
Chairman-designate, Agency for International Trade, Dr. Saman Kelegama,
Special Advisor, Joint Apparel Association Forum Sri Lanka and Advisor,
Agency for International Trade, K. J. Weerasinghe, and former United
Nations Director of Trade and Investment and Advisor to Ministry of
international Trade and Development Strategies Dr. Ravi Ratnayake will
be the resource people.
The seminar will focus on 'What do trade agreements do and what do
they intend to achieve,' 'What sort of trade barriers do FTAs tackle and
what are the rules of the game' and 'Costs and benefits of bilateral
trade agreements vs unilateral liberalization or multilateral agreements
under WTO,' etc.
The seminar will be chaired by CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce,
Dhara Wijayatilake. |
