It is expected to bring together over 1,500 business leaders including Chartered Accountants and Leaders from other professions.

President of CA Sri Lanka, Lasantha Wickremasinghe said that Sri Lanka has great potential and if it is to reach it's maximum capabilities it should be an innovation driven global player.

"With Asia being the engine of growth, and as a nation belonging to this region we can gain great momentum from this growth. Therefore, our corporates need to take advantage from this growth which will ultimately reflect greatly on the national economy," Wickremasinghe said at the launch of the conference theme last week.

He said that the country can boost its standing as a global player by encouraging and promoting entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship, which will help take Sri Lanka to the next level.

This year's national conference theme was unveiled by Wickremasinghe. CA Sri Lanka's Vice President Jagath Perera, Chairman of the National Conference Committee, Tishan Subasinghe, Chairperson of the National Conference Technical Committee, Anoji De Silva and Chief Executive Officer, Aruna Alwis were also present.

With entrepreneurship fast emerging as a transformational mega trend of the 21st century given its capacity to reshape economies and industries throughout the world, entrepreneurs can also be the lifeblood of economic growth in Sri Lanka, as they provide a source of income and employment for themselves as well as for others.

An intrapreneur is an entrepreneur who turns ideas into profitable products and services as an employee of a company.

Intrapreneurship is a relatively recent concept that focuses on employees of a company that have many of the attributes of entrepreneurs. Intrapreneurship provides great opportunities to organisations to re-invent themselves and exploit emerging opportunities.

Chairman of the National Conference Committee, Tishan Subasinghe pointed out that the primary aim of the technical sessions will be to encourage 'innovative' entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs, and ensure that entrepreneurs and established market-leading companies are ready to face challenges from disruptive technologies and millennial workforces, while also encouraging Governments and policy makers to establish an environment that enables an 'innovation driven' economy. Chairperson of the National Conference Technical Committee, Anoji de Silva

said that the technical sessions will focus on seven areas covering; Extreme Entrepreneur, Breaking Stereotypes - Age Is Just a Number, Unleashing Corporate Intrapreneurship, Harnessing Power of Millennials, Digitalization - Your Next Competitive Play, No Dream is Too Big and Funding Entrepreneurship.
