CMA-the shortest way to become Management Accountants

The institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) is the only National Management Accounting Body in Sri Lanka incorporated by an Act of Parliament No 23 of 2009.It holds full Membership with eminent global professional accounting bodies which are recognized internationally such as South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC)and Confederation of Asian & Pacific Accountants (CAPA). CMA is receiving the continuous support from these recognized Institutions to promote the management accounting profession locally.

Now you have a good opportunity to become a professional management accountant of CMA.

After sitting the A/L Examination you may wait for the results of same. But CMA has come forward to provide an opportunity to you to continue with your studies without interruption. Students who have sat for the A/L Examination can now register with CMA for its courses. What you have to do is to register with CMA and commence your studies to become a professional management accountant.

The CMA Sri Lanka Study Program consists of four levels and the final integrative case study. Students can do their studies in either Sinhalese, Tamil or English medium for the first two levels.

The other two levels are in English medium. Those students who wish to improve their English will be assisted by CMA to improve their knowledge in English.

Once you complete the third level of CMA examination you are eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Management StudiesDegree (BMS) offered by the Open University of Sri Lanka. Accordingly first two levels of BMS degree is exempted and you have to only complete balance two levels of the degree to become a BMS degree holder. This will enable students who have missed the chance of entering the university to become a degree holder very easily.

Those students who complete CMA examinations and the practical training and obtain membership willhave opportunity to attend to the courses conducted for post graduate degree in Business Administration (MBA) by Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) and other universities.

Accordingly CMA will put you to a higher standard through professional management accounting skills obtainedby following the CMA course.

All the students who complete the CMA examinations are eligible to obtain CMA membership ACMAafter completion of three years practical training.

In this case too CMA will assist you to obtain a place for practical training.

At Present CMA is having 100 registered training Institutes who are providing training opportunities in their institutions.
