Peradeniya DEEE holds symposium tomorrow

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (DEEE) of University of Peradeniya, for the third consecutive time, has organised the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Research and Project Symposium (EEERaPS - 2016) at the Waters Edge, Battaramulla tomorrow, September 5 from 1.00 p.m.

Minister of Public Enterprise Development Kabir Hashim will be the chief guest.

Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake will preside.


Vocational Training Institute opening today

A vocational training institute set up by the Association of Muslim Women and Entrepreneurs will be opened today at 10.30 a.m. at 142A 1/1, Anderson Road, Kalubowila.

Free computer classes, English classes and cookery and needlework classes for the less fortunate will be offered at this institute.

The patron of the Association of Muslim Women and Entrepreneurs, a charitable organisation for the needy and underprivileged, is Faleela B. Jurangpathy.


International space law lecture

Prof. (Dr.) V. Balakista Reddy, Professor of International Law, coordinator M.K Nayambar SAARC Law Center and Head, Centre for Air and Space Law, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, will conduct a series of lectures and workshops on International Space Law at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) until September 7.

Ramakrishna Mission Singapore President Rev Swami Vimokshanandaji Maharaj will conduct special lectures at the Ramakrishna Mission, 40, Ramakrishna Road, Colombo 6.

September 5 at 7.00 p.m.: Discourse in Tamil 'Vinayaka Vilakkam', September 16 at 10.30 a.m.: Discourse in Tamil: 'Bhaktargalin Sri Ramakrishnar,' September 17 at 5.30 p.m.: Discourse in English 'Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna and guided meditation' and September 18 at 5.30 p.m.: Discourse in Tamil 'Annaiyin Arul'.


Ratnapura Convent PPA Anniversary on Sept.24

Free seminars on Graphic Design & Multimedia at SLIOP

The Sri Lanka Institute of Printing (SLIOP) has organised two workshops in ‘Graphic Design and Multimedia Education’.

The Graphic Designing seminar will be held on Sunday Sept.11 from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. at the Institute, which intends to give an exposure and understanding into essential graphic software packages used in the industry.

The multimedia seminar will discuss the essential software packages used in Web design, non linear editing and digital animation on Sunday Sept.25 from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. at the Institute.

Lions 306 B2 Sports Day and family get-together

Vazians’ Walkathon 2016 on Sept.10

St.Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa, will hold the Rally and the second Vazians’ Walkathon 2016, organised by the Junior Old Boys’ Association on Sept.3 and Sept. 10.

The Rally, will be in and around Wennappuwa town and the Walk which will commence at the College gate at 10.00 a.m. and will proceed up to Katuneriya Church and return to the College ground, a distance of around 6 km.

The events are in aid of the schools’ development projects. Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam will also participate.
