Sri Lanka Insurance (SLIC) who have sponsored religious and cultural festivals in Sri Lanka, also supported the Poson Poya festivities held recently in June in Anuradhapura by sponsorship.

During these festivities the SLIC, Pradeshiya Sabha and the police assist pilgrims who lose their way to re-unite with families or groups with whom they had come. SLIC has provided this service for over 30 years.

In July, this service is provided for the Esala peraheras of the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya and Devinuwara Sri Vishnu Maha Devalaya.

SLIC provides a Rs. 50,000 personal accident cover to spectators, those taking part in the perahera and to the officials. This is provided under the Ira Handa Pavathina Thuru policy. SLIC is currently involved in the Nallur festival in Jaffna, which is a month-long festival conducted in August.

Held around the historic Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil, this Hindu festival also attracts massive crowds from across the island as well as from abroad.

SLIC will sponsor the Getabaru Esala Perahera and festival which is conducted by the Getabaru Raja Maha Viharaya and Devalaya in Kotapola, Matara in September. SLIC which has been a leader in the local financial sector, with a history spanning over 50 years, ensures its presence in other sectors such as culture, sports and entertainment.
